    Who we are

    Since the creation of the town Agia Paraskevi (17th century), we own the olive groves and we are involved in the olive oil production. The secrets of olive cultivation are carried through generations, and today we find the techniques that are in accordance with the variety of olives, that were used many years ago. In fact, these techniques and varieties have their roots in the Trojan War times.

    In 2012 we decided to create the company MAKAROS EDOS in order to introduce a unique product, representing the liaison between the present and the ancient times.

    The olive variety that is cultivated in the island is the Kolovi which is ancient and native. The variety Kolovi produces an excellent quality olive oil, with an intense fruity flavour and an intense aroma.

    The olive trees grow on mountain slopes and in the plain near the sea, receiving the sea breeze and the fresh mountain air. These things, being in accordance with the volcanic ground, give the olive oil its unique characteristics.

    The Kolovi olive variety has no need for irrigation and only nature takes care of her. The man's contribution is limited to trimming, cleaning the grove and harvesting.

    MAKAROS EDOS is produced in Lesvos Island. Lesvos is the third bigger island of Greece and is situated in the north-eastern part of the Aegean Sea. The name of the island during the ancient times was Makaros edos which comes after the name of the first king of Lesvos Makar. During the times of Trojan War, the island was renowned for its excellent quality olive oil.
